Pokémon fans of all ages! On October 12 the newest generation of the much loved pocket monsters video game, Pokémon will be released worldwide.
Pokémon X and Y marks Pokémon’s farewell o the Nintendo DS as it moves over to the 3D capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS. Thanks to the 3D power of the console, it allows 3D polygonal graphics, creating more interactivity with the overworld and more dynamic action during battle sequences. Players are also able to customise their Pokémon trainer’s appearance.
Much like the previous titles, you will start off in a small town as a Pokémon trainer in the star-shaped Kalos Region. Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of The Pokémon Company, has attributed the region’s appearance to be inspired by the country of France, with many structures influenced by landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower.
Then, your character will set off, but not before choosing one of three starter Pokémon from Professor Sycamore. The player chooses between Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie.
In my experiences with a Pokémon game, I have always found them to be fun, enjoyable and a great adventure. When I first played the game, there were fewer than 300 different types of Pokémon, and the catchphrase of the series was: “Gotta catch ‘em all!”
However, this is now the sixth generation of the title and there are now well over 600 types of Pokémon! So good luck to those who wish to catch ‘em all!
