TYSON Fury says he wants to fight for a world heavyweight title at the Globe Arena.
The Lancaster heavyweight sensation, speaking to The Visitor after his latest win on Saturday night, said he would love to box at Morecambe FC’s ground.
“I can’t say too much about it at the moment but there might be a nice surprise for everyone, a massive fight coming to Morecambe,” said the unbeaten boxer from Skerton.
“Imagine if there was a world heavyweight title fight in the Globe Arena? That would be something, wouldn’t it?”
Although no talks have yet taken place with Morecambe FC, Fury said he has instructed his management team to look into the possibility of a fight on the Globe football pitch.
Mark Dixon, Morecambe FC commercial director, said: “We’ve not been approached so at the moment it’s all speculation. But of course we would love such a fantastic opportunity for Morecambe FC and also for the town.
“There’s an awful lot to hosting a boxing event but as it’s a sport, we wouldn’t require any extra planning application.”
Fury extended his unbeaten record to 16 wins by stopping tough American Nicolai Firtha at the King’s Hall in Belfast.
