One of the most fun family events on the Morecambe calendar returns to Happy Mount Park this Saturday.

The Teddy Bears Picnic gives kids the chance to turn their cuddly toys into brave heroes while raising money for charity.

Children can bring their cuddly friends and watch them parachute from the top of a fireman’s ladder, at a cost of £1.50 with all proceeds going to Cystic Fibrosis.

There will also be appearances and displays from the local police, fire, coastguard and ambulance departments. The RAF, Army and Air Ambulance will also be there and police are offering a free bike coding session.

Any money made will be matched by Barclays Bank and the target is £4,000.

Fundraiser Tony Smart MBE will be supporting the event as always. Tony, a previous winner of a Visitor Sunshine Award, is still fund raising in the local area having just turned 80 years young.

There is plenty for children to do including craft workshops, competitions, and free entertainment from Abracadabra Entertainment. Picnic boxes will also be available all day from the Cafe. They can be preordered from the cafe by calling 01524 401140.
