Sixteen men including two from Lancaster and Morecambe have appeared in court charged with offences relating to disorder at Preston North End’s Capital One Cup clash with Blackpool last year.

The men face a number of charges of affray, section four public order offences and a single count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) after an investigation was launched following the disturbance.

The cases against Christopher Tucker, 33, of Mayfield Avenue, Lancaster, Thomas Malkin, 31, of Winsfell View, Morecambe, Andrew Duffy, 35, of De Lacy Street, Ashton; Kieran Dunne, 37, of Sylvancroft, Ingol; Daniel Brown, 19, of The Dingle, Fulwood; Justin Nixon, 41, of Canon Hill, Ashton; Marlon Cross, 28, of Sheephill Brow, Clayton-le-Woods; Wesley Howson, 25, of Well Orchard, Bamber Bridge; Anthony Smalley, 29, of Troutbeck Place, Ribbleton and two youths who cannot be identified, have been adjourned to a future hearing.

David Hough, 38, of Normandy Road, Woodplumpton; Christopher Donnelly, 19, of Levensgarth Avenue, Fulwood; Benjamin Shaw, 21, of Barnfield, Kirkham; Adam Hulme, 23, of Lindon Grove, Ribbleton and David Lewis, 43, of Ashworth Grove, Preston, deny affray.

Lewis also denies assaulting match steward Alan Entwistle causing him actual bodily harm. The men appeared at Preston Crown Court where trials will be held on September 15 and October 8.

All the defendants have been granted bail.
