A CAFE owner says there should be a flag flying for Morecambe at the resort’s Town Hall.

Philip Modica, owner of the Artisan Cafe, is so passionate about the idea that he is now thinking of starting a petition among his customers to campaign to have the flag reinstated.

He said: “They should be flying Morecambe’s flag every day! I might even start a signature collection in the cafe. We don’t seem to get support for anything in the town.

“Recently, there was one of the biggest sailing events in the country held in Morecambe and I didn’t know anything about it.”

Philip brought the subject up at a recent meeting of Morecambe and District Chamber of Trade and was told that a flag is only flown on ceremonial occasions, like the Queen’s birthday.
