A six-year battle over a six foot high fence in Morecambe has sparked a four-day public inquiry.

The metal fence. installed in 2008, blocks access to a playing field at the bottom of Essington Avenue.

Residents complained and said the fence is blocking a historic right of way across the field. The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs intervened.

An order was placed to recognise the right of way and if successful, the fence will have to be taken down.

The inquiry will start on Tuesday, January 13 at The Platform at 10am.
