Fans fight at Giant Axe

CROWD trouble marred Saturday’s FA Cup match between Lancaster City and FC Halifax Town.

The game, which City lost 3-0, was halted for 20 minutes shortly after kick-off, when violence broke out after Halifax scored an early goal.

The referee took the players off the Giant Axe pitch after his attention was drawn to the fighting between the two sets of fans during the third qualifying round game.

Police were called to the ground at 3.10pm, to find around 20-30 fans fighting on the unsegregated terracing behind one of the goals. One man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and five other supporters were ordered to leave the ground.
