A MORECAMBE man played a vital role in royal wedding day celebrations on the island of Anglesey – home to HRH Prince William and his new bride.
Bill Rogerson is chaplain to the Trearddur Bay RNLI and he and son Steve, who is a crew man with the award-winning RNLI station, took part in a huge event which attracted over 3,000 islanders to the County Showground at Mona.
Bill, 59, a former British Transport policeman, has lived on the popular holiday island for five years, but still regards himself as a “sand grown’un”.
Many of his family still live around Morecambe and Bill was a former pupil at Carnforth High School.
During the event he was also interviewed by major national and international press and featured on the popular Songs of Praise TV programme, which came from the island off the coast of North Wales.
