Evofit appeal following distraction burglary

Detectives investigating an attempted distraction burglary have released an Evofit image of a man they need to trace.

Around 6pm on Friday, September 28, two men called at the home of a 67-year-old woman living alone on Ryelands Road in Lancaster.

One of the men introduced himself as being from EMCOR and stated he worked on behalf of the council to service boilers and fireplaces.

Without waiting to be invited in, he entered the victim`s house and stepped into her kitchen.

A second man is seen for the first time in the living room and both men try unsuccessfully to get the victim into the kitchen.

The men search through a cabinet in the living room but they are spotted by the victim who challenges them and threatens to call the police.

PC Mike O’Regan from Lancaster Burglary Team said: “These men are pushy and intimidating in their manner and have deliberately targeted an elderly and vulnerable woman.

“Fortunately the victim has been become suspicious and they have escaped empty handed.

“I’d ask people to take a close look at this Evofit image and if they recognise the man or have any information which could assist with our investigation please call Lancashire Police on 101.”

The first man is described as white, aged between 35 and 45, stocky build and was wearing a baseball cap and navy blue sweatshirt.

The second man is described as Asian with slight facial stubble and was wearing a baseball cap and a grey zipped up jacket.
