Eric Morecambe’s chauffeur, Aladdin and Cinderella will switch on the Christmas lights in the Arndale Centre this Saturday (November 23).

Mike Fountain, who drove the legendary comedian throughout most of his career, will also sign copies of his new book ‘Driving Mr Morecambe’.

Mike, who lives in Morecambe, has released a book telling the inside story of what it was like to work for Eric between 1969 and his death in 1984.

He will flick the switch on the shopping centre lights on a day of family fun at the Arndale.

There will also be a Santa Parade from 1.45pm starting at the bottom of Euston Road, where you can see Father Christmas arrive for the switch-on joined by characters from pantomimes.

The switch-on will be at 2pm and then Santa’s Grotto will be open until 4pm.

Tickets priced £5 are available from the centre on the day, and include photo with Father Christmas, present and reindeer food!

The Bay radio presenter Vic McGlynn will also be there from 1pm to 3pm.

Bell ringers from Morecambe Parish Church will perform from 2.30pm.
