GALGATE, near Lancaster, has been rated the third best place in England and Wales to bring up children.
It ranked just behind Winkleigh in Devon and South Petherton in Somerset based on an analysis of factors including crime rates, earnings, house prices and access to good schools.
Analysts examined more than 60 sets of data to build up a detailed picture of each postcode in England and Wales using police figures, Land Registry information, Ofsted reports and ONS population data.
Quantity and quality of early years care, along with access to green spaces and parks, local leisure centres, museums and theatres, were also considered. The results were then aggregated and weighted to generate scores for each postcode.
The Family Friendly Hotspots Report was compiled by children’s savings provider Family Investments and research was conducted by Calnea Analytics in July.
