A YOUTH football club has given dog fouling the red card.

Members of Storeys Youth FC who train and compete on York Road field in Lancaster are fed up of having to clean up the dog dirt from their pitch every week.

Parent Jill Green who is leading a campaign to kick the problem into touch, said: “It’s a disgusting job to have to do before matches. It’s the dog owner’s job to clean up the mess and our parents and children have had enough.

“Before last week’s match, we collected 52 piles of dog dirt from the pitch alone. It’s a disgrace!

“I just don’t know what these dog owners are thinking knowing so many children use the field either to play football or hang out with their friends. It’s time these people acted responsibly.”
