YOUNG people from the Lancaster and Morecambe district will be taking part in a spectacular production celebrating Preston Guild this September.
Twenty-four teenagers will join a cast of 50 young people from Preston and South Ribble to present Metropolis, one of the most energetic shows to be staged at Preston Guild Hall.
Performed for one night only – September 7 – Metropolis is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the young people involved and the audience who will share in the dynamic experience.
Metropolis is a futuristic adventure set in the Preston of 2052 as imagined by the young people who have been working with awardwinning writer Laurence Wilson on the project presented by The Dukes in Lancaster and Preston Guild 2012.
This energetic extravaganza will feature explosive music, vibrant dance and dramatic performances as well as DJs and MCs on an imaginative set complete with large screens and spectacular lighting effects.
Guy Christiansen of The Dukes is Metropolis creative producer and together with a professional team has been leading taster sessions and workshops which have involved more than 1,500 young people over recent months.
“This project has been aimed at 13 to 19-year-olds and for many of them, it has been their first experience of performing and they’ve had a lot of creative input into the production,” said Guy.
Six members of The Dukes Young Producers will also be playing their part in the Blaze Festival taking place in Avenham Park during the We Play Expo portion of the Preston Guild celebrations on September 8 and 9.
Shona Thompson, Harry Jameson, Dylan Stewart, Laura Forster and Ailsa McKay are Blaze Bloggers and will be using social media to promote activities throughout the festival.
Tickets for Metropolis, which begins at 7pm, are now on sale priced £6/£4 concessions.
