Mr Morris is also separately calling on local musicians to enter the "Rock the House" competition.

MORECAMBE MP David Morris is giving local musicians and venues the opportunity to Rock The House.

The Rock The House competition is in its second year, and will give the winners a chance of prizes which include music equipment and a chance to play at high-profile festivals and mingle with music industry bosses.

Successful nominees will go forward to the national competition, which will be judged by a panel of international music industry experts and musicians.

The finalists will be announced on Friday, May 18.

Finalists will take part in a battle of the bands on Wednesday, May 30.

The winner in each category will perform live at a final competition reception on the banks of the River Thames, on the terrace of the House of Commons, in the evening.

Rock the House, which has been backed by Alice Cooper, is open to three categories: solo-artists, bands over 18 and under-18 entrants (bands or solo-artists), who perform their own original music.
