IT HAS been another great year for GCSE pupils in Morecambe, Lancaster and the wider district.
Headteachers have said the results were well deserved, and showed that the pupils could see the value of studying hard.
Morecambe Community High School has achieved its best ever GCSE results.
Head John McNaughton said: “This is a great statement about the students and staff.
“It was a very positive morning witnessing students collecting the excellent results their efforts have earned them.”
And Heysham High head Maurice Graham said: “Our Year 11 students have worked very hard this year and produced a magnificent 90 per cent five A*-C pass [not including English and maths] rate at GCSE.
“I am sure that people sometimes get tired of hearing the words ‘a new record for the school’.
“But these results do prove beyond doubt the academic and whole school improvements that are happening at Heysham High School, thanks to the dedication and commitment of students and staff.
“My congratulations to all concerned – I look forward to commenting in two years’ time on their A level success.”
