College in bid for £8m revamp

LANCASTER and Morecambe College has submitted plans for a multi-million pound redevelopment of its campus.

In the same week, the college has found out that they are ranked in the top 10 colleges in the country for success.

The college has teamed up with Ellis Williams Architects to deliver a complete redevelopment of their campus and facilities.

Some of the new facilities are planned for as soon as September 2012.

The college has been awarded a £2m grant by the Government’s Skills Funding Agency, and will be adding a further £6m to fund the first phase of the redevelopment project at the campus.

David Wood, principal and chief executive of Lancaster & Morecambe College said: “We are very excited about developing a new campus for the 21st century.

The first phase of the project will start this summer with a new Music and Media centre due to open in September 2012.

Lancaster & Morecambe College will be holding an open evening on Tuesday, July 10, between 4.30pm and 7pm, where members of the public will be able to find out more about the new facilities and courses offered at college.
