A drugs gang has been jailed for a total of 30 years after plotting to flood Morecambe and Lancaster with class A narcotics.

The seven-strong team were involved in bringing the drugs and cutting agents in from Liverpool and West Yorkshire and processing them for sale on the streets of the town.

Judge Robert Altham, sentencing at Preston Crown Court, said: “The use of class A drugs causes illness, impoverishment, neglect of children, unemployment and associated crime in order to fund habits, and sadly, in many cases, it causes death.
