There’s now somewhere for visitors to a community drop-in centre to grab a snack and a drink.

West End Impact on Heysham Road has a new community IMPACT cafe which will be open every Tuesday from 10am.

There is a play area for toddlers and various agencies will be on hand with benefits advice, housing advice, saving money on fuel bills or just general issues.

Manager Tracy Kohl said: “We help various people through our many projects throughout the week and have grown significantly over the past 10 years.

“It is great to be able to show our new facility to the public and I am sure everyone will be surprised to see that most of the building and renovation work has been done by volunteers. The facility comprises of three rooms that have very different functions and rooms are available for hire.

“We have a conference/seminar room, a small hall where our youth club, art group and toddler group take place, and our community cafe upstairs.”
