Dreams of harmony from Eurovision to Euro 2016

Have your say

Well dear readers, a terrible thought has just occurred to me.

As we await a month of Euro football, what would happen to our participation should Brexit occur?

Would we be peeping through the window at a party to which we are no longer invited, come 2020?

Che orrore !

Of course this is a silly thought as, in truth, the European Union and Euro 2016 football are not the same thing (though I could be forgiven for thinking they are!).

Just imagine if it was though – the idea of losing our spot in the football and Eurovision is food for thought, though the latter might be a blessing in disguise ...

June 23 will certainly be a heady day. I wonder if we will be able to escape into the football?

I love it, personally, and will be watching some of the games with interest though with that resigned spirit of impending defeat.

Back in 2012, I watched it in a Barlettan hotel room with husband James.

We really enjoyed it although I could not follow every word, but I certainly got the gist.

I suppose it translates quite well without words.

And, for those of you who find football as fascinating as a snail race (which is actually quite fascinating), perhaps it will be a good time to plan your next holiday.

How about some of the smaller islands in the Tuscan archipelago, such as Capraia, Montecristo and Giannutri?

I should add that not all of these are inhabited by man yet, but that sounds good to me.

I don’t know about you, but I quite fancy the idea of waking up to a cacophony of birdie squawk and less of the political variety.

Or maybe, we could suggest to our leading elite that they potter off there for a week or so to sort it all out and come up with some convincing arguments.

You never know, the sight of the pristine Tyrhennian seas might awaken some nuggets of sense into their noggins and provide the rest of us with a clear path.

Perhaps too as they looked up at the azure skies, they would acknowledge that a computer glitch is just that so if people were unable to vote by the deadline, an extension is both logical and right.

Crazy world!
