Over 660kg of food - enough for 700 meals - has been donated to Morecambe Bay Foodbank as demand continues to grow.

The food, worth over £1,000, was donated by teams from Doosan Babcock and EDF Energy at Heysham 1 and 2 Power Stations.

This will provide enough food for almost 700 meals for adults and children from the Morecambe area.

Annette Smith, Morecambe Bay Foodbank project coordinator, said: “So far this year, the Morecambe Bay Foodbank has provided food for 1,567 adults and 815 children in the local area – that’s a 76 per cent rise in demand compared to the same period last year. Support from businesses means that we can keep up with demand, as more people than ever struggle to put food on the table.”
