Dog lovers in Morecambe are being invited to put their pooches to the test by signing up to a vintage inspired sponsored dog walk in aid of local families affected by cancer and life limiting conditions.
The Vintage Pooch Parade, on September 7 in Morecambe, is part of programme for the second annual Vintage by the Sea Festival, organised by designer Wayne Hemingway.
The vintage-themed sponsored dog walk along Morecambe Promenade will be followed by a fun dog show. The categories include best dressed dog, best dressed bitch, best hairstyle, scruffiest dog, best celebrity dog look-alike and best in show (dog and owner), with prizes and doggie treats for the winners.
Wayne Hemingway, organiser of the event, said: “We are looking forward to seeing what people bring to the parade and to see all different kind of dogs and outfits.
“There’s been plenty of emails about it, lots of people who own dogs and want a day out are invited to come along. “
Participants and their pooches will be encouraged to compete by dressing up in their finest vintage outfits. All proceeds raised from the hour long walk will be donated to CancerCare.
The entry fee is £5 per dog and starts at 11.45am behind the Midland Hotel, Morecambe. The dog show begins after the walk and is open to all dogs who have taken part at £2 per entry, per category.
