There is a familiar name running a well-known cafe at Hest Bank.

Chef Robin Baxter has taken over the Baxter’s Bay Crossing Cafe near the level crossing.

Robin is a seventh generation Baxter descended from James Baxter, who set up the famous Baxter’s potted shrimps business in Morecambe, and his grandfather Clive used to run a cafe at Heysham Head and the Shore Cafe on Morecambe prom.

Robin’s grandmother Josephine also had the Pied Piper clothes shop on Morecambe Street and Clive, his father and grandfather, were born in the shop, a former fisherman’s cottage.
