Zombies, skeletons and superheroes invaded Morecambe last weekend for over 30 hours of scary mayhem and chaos.

The first ever Zombieville festival drew in horror fans from as far afield as Northampton, Leicester and even South Africa.

Smokey O’Connor’s was the centre of creepy for the weekend, with a monstrous programme of live music from bands Pink Hearse, Cyferdyne, Army Of Walking Corpses, Bloodyard and Vandal Heart, as well as a burlesque show.

Saturday saw the first ever charity Zombie Crawl from the West End and past the Midland Hotel.

The participating ‘zombies’ had time to visit Eric and the Station for a quick ‘pit-stop’ for refreshments.

It was then time for the first Monster Mash as the Festival Market welcomed the crawlers who danced the Time Warp with stallholders and wide-eyed shoppers.

The zombies then entered the Arndale Centre for an hour of scary fun and fund-raising for CancerCare.

Hundreds enjoyed the festival finale on Sunday at the Winter Gardens, which was transformed into a mansion of spooky for performances by Sam King, Phoenix Down, This Time Next Week and IDK together with the Thriller dance routine from the fantastic Strawberry Dance team.

And anyone who missed this weekend of the weird is just a scaredy-cat!
