Happy New Year to everyone.

Parliament returns this week after the Christmas and New Year break.

We have a busy session ahead and as ever I am interested to hear your views so please do write to me or email me with your suggestions.

Looking back at 2012, I am immensely proud of what has been achieved.

This year, 2013, is the year for keeping the foot on the gas and continuing to bring change here in Morecambe and Lunesdale.

Towards the end of last year, the Big Lottery announced they were to award a minimum of £1m to the West End.

I think it is imperative that if you run a project in the West End you are beginning to think about how much you will be bidding for.

This money will be incredibly useful.

I was delighted last year to meet Wayne Clinton. Wayne runs an organisation called Disability Online. Last year, Wayne won an award for his efforts and this year, in February, Disability Online is celebrating its first birthday with an open Day at the Lighthouse Centre on Wednesday, February 13 from noon.

Before Christmas, I had a productive meeting with the Environment Agency. At the meeting I discussed the potential for a marina here in Morecambe. I will continue this year to meet with all of the different organisations who have an input in such matters. I have already met with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
