Last Thursday, a group of pupils from Skerton Community High School came to London. I was able to take them to Downing Street to present their petition to Number 10.

On the same day I was able to take a delegation from the school to the Department for Education where we had an extremely positive meeting with Minister for Schools Lord Nash. I then presented the petition to the House of Commons wearing a Skerton Community High school tie. Thank you to the pupils for coming all the way to London. It was a privilege to spend the day with you and I was honoured to be able to make your voices heard in Downing Street, the Department of Education and the House of Commons.

I have written to the Leader of the Opposition Ed Miliband to oppose his energy price fix policy. This policy is flawed. Energy companies have increased their prices by 10% as a result.

Many of the energy companies are offering to fix their prices until the end of 2016 so I’ve asked Miliband what the point is of the policy. My opinion is that Miliband has created a run on the energy companies causing them to increase their prices. This is a bad thing for consumers.

Last time the energy companies offered to fix prices for three years, Miliband was the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. I have asked Miliband if he couldn’t create a government policy to fix energy prices then, why does he feel he can now. Overall I do feel this policy will have an adverse effect on my constituents who work in the nuclear power industry and these are the reasons I oppose the policy.

You can read my letter to Mr Miliband on my website.
