I was pleased to see that the Eric Morecambe Statute and Carnforth station both won TripAdvisor Awards recently.
The award signifies that Eric and the station have consistently earned outstanding feedback from tourists. This is very good news for the area that two of our key tourist attractions have received these awards.
On the theme of awards the fantastic Tarnbrook chippy in Heysham has won a National Federation of Fish Friers Quality Award for the second year, well done to John and the team who serve excellent fish and chips. I presented the award and did some cooking too.
Last week, I welcomed two ministers to Morecambe and Lunesdale. The Police and Criminal Justice Minister Damian Green MP visited White Lund to see the CCTV system that has been installed by local businesses with the help from Morecambe Police Damian also popped into the Visitor offices before talking to residents.
On Saturday, the Minister for Farming, Food and Marine Environment visited Sunderland Point. You may recall that the local community had been trying to install sea defences to protect Sunderland Point, however, a significant amount of red tape was in the way. I tabled a debate in the House of Commons and the Minister promised to remove the red tape and unblock blockages in Government.
The Minister did just that and the residents of Sunderland Point now have sea defences which held strongly against the terrible weather we had earlier this year. The Minister came to visit residents on Sunderland Point and to see the sea defences.
My summer tour last year was incredibly successful, it took me across the length and breadth of Morecambe and Lunesdale. We even did street surgeries, if you would like me to come where you live this year please send me an e-mail.
I have been distributing my constituency wide survey, if you haven’t yet received one you call call James on 01524 411059 and he will send you one.
