On Friday I was pleased to help with the tidy up at Happy Mount Park.
You may recall that a local man called Steve Trainor masterminded an idea called the Poppyscatter, the idea was for local people to scatter poppy seeds all over the constituency so that when we remember those who did not return home from the First World War the poppies will be in full bloom.
Sadly, someone vandalised the poppy beds and it was heartening to see on Friday that so many local people helped to repair the damage including a lot of school children. It was poignant that Friday was D-Day and everyone paused to remember those who have fallen in war.
Saturday saw the annual Barefest, despite the weather it was a fantastic day and I was able to parade with Lord Mayor of Bare, Susan Bray.
I was also able to visit the Bolton-le-Sands gala, which was a fantastic event. It was an honour for me to talk to the Bay Search and Rescue representatives and those campaigning for a new church roof. Thank you to everyone who organised and attended both events, the community spirit was evident despite the rain.
Last week I visited Easyrecruit in Morecambe, Lee and the team are putting a large number of hardworking people from Morecambe and Lunesdale into work.
Actually, while I was in the office, a call came through from one of Easyrecruit’s clients offering a large number of people work.
My summer tour last year was incredibly successful, it took me across the length and breadth of Morecambe and Lunesdale to community events, hosting surgeries in libraries and your local pub.
We even did street surgeries, if you would like me to come where you live this year please send me an email.
I have been distributing my constituency wide survey, if you haven’t yet received one you call call James on 01524 411059 and he will send you one.
It is also available online just take a look at www.letdavidknow.co.uk and rest assured I read every single response.
