SPECTATORS oohed and aahed their way through the spectacular Lancaster fireworks display on Saturday.

With none of the public allowed on Castle Hill, people gathered at the council’s designated viewing areas at St George’s Quay, the Giant Axe, Ryelands Park, Williamson Park, Salt Ayre and the Millenium Bridge.

However some who tried to get into the spirit were left frustrated after safety officials forced spectators to bin any sparklers on health and safety grounds.
