A man is due to appear in court later this month after a woman was injured by a dog at a house in Lancaster.
Gary Deegan, 49, of Granville Road, Lancaster, is charged with allowing a dog to cause injury in a private place, contrary to the amended Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 which came into force countrywide yesterday.
He has been bailed to appear before Lancaster Magistrates on Tuesday, May 27.
Police were called to a house on Granville Road in Lancaster at shortly after 2am on Tuesday, May 13, to a report that a 54-year-old woman had been attacked by a Bull Mastiff dog inside the house.
She was taken by ambulance to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary suffering from a broken arm and severe cuts.
The dog was seized by police and will be subject to a destruction order.
