CANCER sufferers are shocked and deeply upset following the theft of a special garden sanctuary.

The patients were looking forward to being able to use a new summerhouse at CancerCare in Lancaster until heartless thieves made off with it.

Staff at CancerCare say they hope the thieves will never have to use the services of the local charity as they would then realise just how terrible their crime was.

Christine Blease, fundraising manager at CancerCare, told The Visitor: “It’s dreadful. All I can say is I hope they are never in need of our services.

“Perhaps if they were, they would realise the implications of taking from someone who has had the devastating diagnosis of cancer and is looking for some normality in their life.

“People here were looking forward to using the summerhouse. They like to sit in the garden as it is a peaceful place for reflection.”
