CHILDREN looking forward to their birthday parties at a Morecambe soft play centre were victims of thieves who stripped 500 sq ft of lead from the Winter Gardens roof.
Johnny’s Fun Factory at Pleasureland next door to the theatre had to close for two days after rain poured into the building “like a waterfall”.
Staff had to deliver disappointing news to parents that four scheduled birthday parties could not go ahead because the play area was under water. They then worked around the clock to dry the Fun Factory out so it could reopen.
Hilary Hough, manageress at Pleasureland, said water started pouring in during the thunderstorms on October 6. “It was like a waterfall,” she said.
