A former Lancaster police officer has been given an award for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Chief inspector Tracie O’Gara, who is now based in Preston, received the George Herbert Redman Award for her “relentless engagement and belief in community involvement and partnership working”. As part of the honour, presented to her by Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, chief inspector O’Gara’s nominated charity, the Cadet Scheme, which is being piloted in her policing division, will receive a cheque for £500. Formerly Lancaster-based, she is also the inspector for the Wyre area. Eight police officers and two members of the public picked up Lancashire Constabulary Bravery Awards.
