A PREGNANT woman was violently knocked to the ground and mugged in what police described as a “cowardly attack”.
Victim Carol-Ann Sharp, 19, who is 25 weeks pregnant with her first child, was left bruised and cut after the mugging in Heysham – but luckily her baby girl wasn’t harmed.
The callous attackers ripped Carol-Ann’s late grandmother’s ring off her finger. The ring was of great sentimental value.
Brave Carol-Ann told The Visitor: “I had to go to hospital to get the baby checked out but the baby’s fine, thank God.
“I wasn’t bothered about myself. They didn’t take my phone but it was awful.
“I won’t go anywhere on my own now. I just want to be inside.”
Carol-Ann said she was on her way home to Cambridge Road in Morecambe at 8.30pm on Friday when she was aware of two men walking behind her.
They started shouting at her and were getting a bit too close so she started walking faster to try and get away from them.
That’s when they shoved Carol-Ann to the ground. She threw her phone to free her hand and stop herself falling on her stomach.
