A WOMAN who made a hoax call to 999 which put members of Morecambe lifeboat crew at risk has been dealt with by police.
The 57-year-old from Morecambe, who is said to have mental health issues, called emergency services saying that a woman had been seen walking in the sea near the Battery Hotel.
The inshore lifeboat launched a search in “difficult” conditions and HM Coastguard also helped, but after 40 minutes, police discovered it was a hoax call.
Police questioned the woman who said she was going to walk into the sea and had been out on the beach.
She admitted she had made the call about herself.
