A GATECRASHER who stamped on a man’s head after trying to get into a party has been jailed for eight months.
Michael Dempsey turned up at the party on Londonderry Road, Heysham, on October 28 last year without an invitation.
He and a small group were refused entry and remained on the street.
His 18-year-old victim, who did not know him, was standing in the garden of the property when Dempsey turned on him, knocking him to the floor and stamping on his head.
Appearing at Preston Crown Court Dempsey, 23, of Delamere Avenue, Morecambe, was jailed for eight months for actual bodily harm. Speaking after the sentencing, DC Sue Palmer, Lancaster CID, said: “Dempsey did not know his victim and did not have an invite to the party; the group remained outside but then Dempsey lashed out.
“His violent outburst was completely unacceptable, although fortunately it did not result in any lasting injuries for the victim. Dempsey is now behind bars and this serves as yet another example of what happens to those who cannot control their tempers.”
