A charity worker got down on one knee at a Gary Barlow gig and proposed to his girlfriend.
Paul Cody, 26, originally from Morecambe, the grandson of Chair of the Friends of the Winter Gardens Evelyn Archer, and his girlfriend Caroline Davy, 26, had the best seats in the house at London’s Hammersmith Apollo for the gig last Wednesday night.
Then Gary called the couple up on stage in front of 5,000 fans for the big moment – and she said “Yes”.
Caroline, who works for the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “It was the most romantic night of my life. I was completely overwhelmed and my legs were shaking.
“I couldn’t believe it was happening. He gave me a night I will remember forever.
“Paul is normally quite reserved so I am simply blown away. It took strength to get on stage and propose and he spent weeks planning.”
Caroline and Paul, who works for charity Sue Ryder, have been together for almost seven years after meeting at university.
Paul is a former Morecambe High School pupil.
Evelyn Archer said: “He’s a good lad. He didn’t think anyone would be interested in what he was doing. Channel 5 news came to film at his office. He said ‘I can’t believe it!”
