Three was a magic number in a Caton household when triplets Nathan, Sammy and Alex Heywood celebrated their 18th birthday.

The Caton trio who were born on January 22 1996 enjoyed a family get-together to mark the special day.

Identical brothers Nathan and Sammy and their triplet Alex celebrated the occasion with mum Jan, dad Steve,
sister Charlotte, 29, and brothers Matthew, 26, and Oliver, 19 – before enjoying their own celebrations with friends.

Jan said: “They want to do their own things with their own friends.

“Going to college was the first time they have really been split up so they have all got different friends now. It’s really scary because it doesn’t seem like five minutes since they were born.”

Nathan is studying agriculture and horticulture at Myerscough College, while Sammy and Alex both attend Kendal College. Sammy is studying to be a chef and Alex is studying business.

Jan and Steve said the teenagers had enriched the family’s lives and wished them all a happy birthday.
