I am really pleased to announce that Morecambe will receive more than £1 Million of Government funding for GP services.
The Prime Minister’s Challenge has made £50 Million available and a slice of it will come to Morecambe to establish a pilot which will see five GP practices open seven days a week from 8am until 8pm improving GP access for 61,000 patients in Morecambe.
There’ll also be a telephone triage service which is designed to direct patients to the service most appropriate for their needs and there’ll even be an app and remote consultations by phone and e-mail.
Patients will also have access to an improved range of minor injury services, including treatments for fractures, cuts and sprains, to avoid hospital admissions, with an out-of-hours X-ray service.
You can read more about this on my website www.davidmorrismp.co.uk
Over the weekend I was reading the latest Accident and Emergency figures and the Morecambe Bay Trust saw 95-per-cent of patients within four hours, there is always room for improvement but 95-per-cent is much better than it has been and shows a vast improvement in Accident and Emergency.
On my recent visit to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary I was able to meet with some of the Accident and Emergency staff and talk about their work.
I know over recent months there have been unjustified scare stories about the Accident and Emergency at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but it is here to stay.
I will be announcing the details of this year’s summer tour soon, if you would like me to come to where you live, please let me know.
Also you can let me know your thoughts about Morecambe and Lunesdale by completing my constituency wide questionnaire.

Please remember the deadline for expressions of interest for the Coastal Communities Fund is April 30. You can find more information on my website www.davidmorrismp.co.uk, there is a total of £64 Million available so please do put in a bid for some funding.
