Well, the line-up of performers who will be taking to The Bay’s ‘Live Stage’ on carnival day has been announced and, what a line up it is.

More than 15 superb acts. What a day, what an evening, what a party on May 4.

This weekend is going to be one of the best ever for Morecambe and will be talked about for years – well, until next year anyway when we’ll have to see if we can surpass even this for MC15.

There will be something for everyone, including some very talented local artistes who our committee were very keen to include.

Unfortunately we couldn’t include every act that approached us however, during the remainder of 2014 we are planning on holding a number of fundraising events and would like to think we can showcase local talent on those occasions.

Anyone who caught The Bay’s line-up announcement last Friday will have heard Danny Matthews announce that he has booked ‘fantastic weather’ for carnival day and I must say that this is great news.

It’s not that we don’t trust Danny however, the MC14 committee have had 2,000 Morecambe Carnival ponchos produced. They are very attractive, extremely competitively priced at £2 and, if you go onto our Facebook page, you will see one being modelled by one of our carnival crew, Karl Geary.

We will soon take delivery of our MC14 souvenir brochure, which has been compiled by our friends at The Bay.

We have included editorial from yours truly and also information on all the floats entered in this year’s parade.

There’s a map of the carnival processional route and where to find all the attractions and amenities on the big day.

We have also included details on all the acts taking part on The Bay stage and a running order for the day so you don’t miss a thing.

There’s details on the celebrity programme signing event on Saturday, May 3, where our stars from Emmerdale will be meeting fans and signing programmes in the Arndale Centre and The Festival Market.

If any businesses can take a stock of programmes, raffle tickets or ponchos, to sell on our behalf, please do get in touch in the usual way, via our Facebook or website.

Also, there is still time to nominate for our Carnival King and Queen.

Head to the Bay Radio’s website www.thebay.co.uk and tell us why you think your child deserves this honour.

Since last Friday’s ‘launch’ of the radio coverage for the Carnival we have been getting lots of new enquiries and although applications for float entries are closed, we still have market stall and food vendor pitches available.

To apply for any of these, please go to our website morecambecarnival.org and follow the links.
