Child sex exploitation charges

Fourteen men who were arrested as part of a countywide sweep aimed at tackling child exploitation have appeared in court.

Richard Sparrow, 24, of Thorpe Avenue, Morecambe was charged with eight counts of making an indecent photograph of a child and 10 counts of possessing an indecent photograph of a child.

He appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on Friday and is due to appear at Preston Crown Court on June 17.

Another thirteen men from across Lancashire appeared on the same day charged with varying offences.

A 27 year old man from Slyne-with-Hest who was spoken to as part of the investigation having voluntarily attended a police station in September has been summonsed to appear at Preston Crown Court on April 22.

Two other men who were arrested in September have been released by police with no further action include a 22-year-old man from Morecambe who was arrested on suspicion of possessing an indecent photograph of a child and a 27-year-old man from Morecambe who was arrested on suspicion of possessing an indecent photograph of a child and distributing an indecent photograph of a child.
