Cellist extraordinaire Raphael Wallfisch will regale a Lancaster University audience next month.

In June 2012, Raphael’s recording of Dvorak’s Cello Concerto was chosen for Radio 3’s Building a Library and called the “most enjoyable, excellent performance from the last 25 years”.

On November 17, he will play it with Lancaster’s very own Haffner Orchestra.

An open rehearsal will be held at 2 pm in the Great Hall where those with tickets for the evening concert can watch the orchestra rehearsing with the soloist.

This will last for just over an hour, followed by a teabreak and then another open rehearsal of the rest of the programme.

There will also be a pre-concert talk by Wallfisch starting at 6.30pm. The concert starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets available from local Visitor Information Centres or call 01524 582394 (credit card sales) or 01524 65531.

Prices are adults £12.50, concessions £11.50, 18 and under free.
