A great night celebrating the decade of Spectrum games, leg warmers and New Romantics will bring cheese with a capital ‘C’ to the Platform next month.

Club Tropicana will see some of your favourite Morecambe DJs from the past 30 years unite to play the music of the 1980s.

Club Tropicana promises to capture all the fun of the decade and have everyone up and dancing in a real ‘80s party atmosphere

Headed by the evergreen Steve Middlesbrough and Morecambe’s answer to Timmy Mallett, the colourful Trevor Cooke, the team will play the hits of Madonna, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and more.

Also DJing on the night will be Mark Swindlehurst, best known as match day announcer at Morecambe Football Club, and Phill Hayward, a mainstay of Morecambe’s pub and club DJ scene.

The event takes place on Sunday, April 5 at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 and are available from the box office at Morecambe Visitor Information Centre, Platform Buildings, Marine Road Central, Morecambe.

Club Tropicana kickstarts a season of music nights and festivals organised by Steve Middlesbrough’s Kalimba Events firm.

On Bank Holiday Sunday, May 3, it’s the turn of the disco era.

Disco Inferno sees top disco dance DJs play the music of 1974-1984 at the Platform.

Tickets again £10.

Country music invades the Platform for the 10th anniversary of Country Kickback on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 24.

Acts performing will be Magill, Double Trouble, Lainey West, and Colt Murphy and guests. Tickets £10, 1pm-midnight.

BluesWater is on Sunday, June 21 at The Platform, Morecambe Jazz returns on Sunday, July 5 at the seafront venue, Motown Magic is on Sunday, August 16, and then comes the Morecambe Live Weekender on the August bank holiday (August 28 to 30), and Zombieville on October 16-17.
