A NEW play area in Morecambe will benefit from funding from a community-led regeneration scheme.
The recreation park being built at the Clay Pits field near the Trimpell Club, as well as the proposed enhancement of Ryelands Park play area in Lancaster, are two of the projects selected to receive an undisclosed amount of cash from Transform Your Patch.
Transform Your Patch is a partnership between environmental regeneration charity, Groundwork, and drinks brands Britvic and PepsiCo.
Around 165 UK recreational projects of various sizes across 12 regions will receive funding from the scheme including playgrounds, picnic areas and parks, skate parks and five-a-side football pitches.
The Clay Pits recreational park will include play areas for both toddlers and older children, and a multi-use games area (MUGA) including a five-a-side football pitch. The funding will pay for a seating area for spectators.
The two projects have also been put forward as flagship projects under the scheme, meaning people can vote for them throughout the summer to receive even more money from Transform Your Patch and help improve them even further.
