A COUPLE from Carnforth who have recycled for countless years were shocked and saddened to discover that Lancaster City Council has stopped recycling certain types of plastics.

Recycling enthusiasts Jane and John Turbill are disappointed that the city council is not taking some plastics that can be recycled.

Jane said: “I always wash the plastics and remove the labels.

“They took the milk cartons but left everything else, even though they are recyclable.

“I rang the city council and was told to put the plastics in the grey bin.

“We have recycled all our lives. We are recyling these plastics and they are saying it doesn’t matter whether they are recyclable or not.

“For all we know everything we have recycled is going into landfill.

“Are we just wasting our time?”
