Cannabis resin
CANNABIS resin worth £50,000 has been seized by police at Heysham port.
Lancashire Constabulary’s ports unit stopped a vehicle in the early hours of Friday, July 27 and carried out a search.
They discovered 76 bars of a brown resinous substance, believed to be 9oz bars of cannabis worth an estimated £50,000 in the car’s boot.
In the last few months, officers from the ports unit, working with police colleagues in the Isle of Man and port staff, have seized drugs worth more than £315,000. A search of a vehicle in February revealed an attempt to take £125,000 worth of drugs across to the Isle of Man.
During the TT races £140,000 worth of drugs were also seized. Information can be given to police on 101.
Robert Allen, 36, of Chevin Road, Liverpool, appeared at Preston Magistrates Court last Wednesday, charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply in relation to the incident.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Magistrates Court on August 29.
