Campus in the city column

The car known as LR14 which will be appearing at Campus in the City on Saturday. Its successor is in the workshop being prepared for its Silverstone debut but were hoping to see it before then.

And we are keeping our foot to the floor as we bring another week of university activities to the heart of the community, including the return (by popular demand) of the Lancaster Racing team and their car on Saturday April 9. The Lancaster Racing team is taking part in the formula student competition, which sees groups of students from universities around the world design, build and race their own Formula One-style car.

Our team is made up of third year and master students in engineering. They will be on hand during the day to show off the car which went to the last competition and tell us more about the improvements they will be making to their new car, which will be racing at Silverstone in July. Lancaster Racing team leader Ahmed Lambat said: “Anyone is welcome to come and ask questions and, if you’re lucky, sit in the car. We will be back at Campus in the City on May 21 and hope to be showcasing our own car then.”

For motorsport fans and would-be engineers, this is definitely not to be missed.

And there is a lot more to come. We will be taking a trip around the world without leaving the shop on Wednesday April 13 with the International Office and Confucius Institute, as we celebrate some of the crafts and culture our international students bring with them. There are plenty to choose from, as students from more than 100 different countries come to Lancaster each year to study.

We will also be looking at the things which make Lancaster such a great place to live and work with our UK Student Recruitment Office on April 8. If you have any questions about applying to university or about our courses, this is the event for you.
