Police, the fire service and the ambulance service attended the Heysham bypass near the Middleton Road roundabout at 7pm on Thursday.
A red Peugeot 206 had gone down an embankment with two people inside. A 28-year-old man, the driver, was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
