The New Inn at Yealand re-opened opened on March 6 following a far-reaching campaign to save it.

Barry Robinson, owner of The Longlands Hotel at Tewitfield and Plato’s in Kirkby Lonsdale bought the pub from previous owners Robinsons, securing the future of the historic pub.

Previously, residents of Yealand Conyers, Redmayne and Storrs had tried to purchase the inn as a community pub at the beginning of 2016, but didn’t manage to raise enough funds.

Mr Robinson has spent the last six months restoring and refurbishing the 1680s village inn. Many of the original features are still there, and time has been spent “upcycling” the old furniture by replacing and refurbishing tables and re-upholstering chairs in modern fabrics and colours.

Mr Robinson said: “The New Inn will be a great addition to our family of hostelries.

Work will continue on the New Inn as we are building a new all-purpose toilet block, landscaping the beer garden for summer, adding letting rooms and we will hopefully tackle the barn at some point.”

The New Inn will be open for 10am every day.
