Passengers face change on buses

Bus operator Stagecoach is due to make changes to a number of its timetables next month.

From September 29, the service 2/2A will now serve both Hala and Greaves Road every 20 minutes each on the section of route between Lancaster city centre and Lancaster University.

Service 4 will now serve the railway station, combined with the X4 (Sundays and peak time only), which will entirely replace the X1 service.

The company said the changes reflect passenger demand in the university holidays.

The service 3 will start from Morrisons in Morecambe and in university holidays will finish at Lancaster Bus Station with the new 2 route running on Greaves Road.

The 4 and 42 services will continue to serve the university all year round.

The 12 service will operate using the new double deck buses to increase the number of seats available on the more direct journey along the bypass to Lancaster.

These journeys will operate via Sugham Lane and not Kingsway/Mossgate Road, following the same route as the service 2.

A spokesman for Stagecoach said: “We have introduced these changes to provide improved connections, shorter journeys, better buses on the 12 and achieve reduced mileage and vehicle emissions.

“We will also soon be able to reinstate some journeys during the day via Morecambe Road in response to
public requests for more buses.”
