PUB-GOERS around the country will be able to drink to Morecambe Bay after the launch of a new brewery in the resort.

The new Cross Bay Brewery, based on White Lund Industrial Estate, was officially opened this week with the launch of three new ales called Sunset, Dusk and Nightfall at a special event held at the Water Witch pub.

The Queen’s Guide to the Sands, Cedric Robinson, was the special guest.

The brewery’s name relates to the famous bay and its history as an often treacherous crossing point for merchants and travellers as a short cut to the Lake District.

Peter Cross, managing director of Cross Bay Brewery, said he was excited about the prospect of seeing the Morecambe brand being featured in pubs across the country. Peter, who also runs Morecambe Bay Wines, said: “We have been looking to develop a brewery for some time and I feel we have produced an excellent brand and some excellent beers already.”
